The Therapy Thermometer is a tool to help convert a verbal check-in into a physical and visually engaging activity. Great for low-talk, high irritability clients, this visual aid is less invasive than being directly questioned. The front has a DIY 0-10 Scale that can be tailored to the unique clinical situation of the youth. The back is an Intensity Thermometer that can be used to gauge mood or intensity of an internal state experienced.
FRONT SIDE- CHECK IN SCALE:
Check in with clients on current levels of…anything! Happiness scale? Check. Anxiety scale? Check. Dissociation or Irritation Scale? Check. Great way to turn something verbal into something visual and manipulatable. Made for kids but great for teens, adults, families, and couples.
TO USE: Choose the scale theme relevant to your client. Using the included dry erase marker, write the chosen scale theme on the top line. Place the included magnet on the slider section. Have the client slide the magnet to their corresponding number, 10 being highest experienced, 0 being no experience of this. Keep track of severity of their scale over time as clinically indicated.
EXAMPLES: Adjustment to New School Scale, Anxiety Scale, Nightmares Scale, Happiness Scale, How Full is Your Bucket Scale, Mad at Sibling Scale, Feeling Loved Scale, Depression Scale, Validation Scale, Sensory Overload Scale, Sick of School Scale, etc.
BACK SIDE- INTENSITY THERMOMETER:
Can be used as a SUDS scale, general intensity rating scale, or mood check-in. Great for younger children, this can be used to teach about intensity levels of various feelings.
TO USE: Once a feeling is identified, have client indicate where on the the Intensity Thermometer it falls. Younger clients can also use the Thermometer to identify the mood they are in currently.
BOARD MEASURES 5" x 8" AND COMES WITH MAGNET, MAGNETIC DRY ERASE MARKER, INSTRUCTIONS, AND PACKAGING.
